Program Overview

Senior Puppy training is for puppies between the ages of 13 weeks and 6 months of age at the time of starting.

This is a crucial time in your puppy’s life to ensure proper socialisation skills are developed and nurtured. Our program is designed to help puppies build calm behaviours around other dogs and people, learn strategies for coping with potentially scary things (like vacuum cleaners and hairdryers), and expand their exposure to novel items.  Through positive reinforcement techniques, we focus on teaching essential life skills such as greeting people and other dogs politely, and we expand on skills already learned during the Puppy Skills program.

The Senior Puppy program will cover things such as:

  • Good manners

  • Teaching calm

  • Games to teach your dog how to focus

  • Stand

  • Stay

  • Leave

  • Give up items

  • Relaxing in place

  • Recall/Come when called

  • Reading dog body language

  • Dog to dog interactions

  • Environmental enrichment

  • Strategies for jumping (if needed)

  • Strategies for puppy biting (if needed)

  • Strategies for toilet training (if needed)

  • How to prevent problem behaviours

  • Co-operative Care

  • How dogs learn

  • Socialisation

  • Loose lead walking

  • and MUCH MORE
